
A PV Generator is usually bought to keep power on during an outage. On many sites, though, its bigger financial win is quieter: time-of-use peak shaving. Because the cabinet controls when the battery charges and when it discharges, a site can pull cheap grid power at night and serve its own load during the expensive peak window - turning a backup box into a bill-cutting asset.
The Solar 3B3 PV Generator manages a configurable charge/discharge schedule. During the day, PV charges the LFP battery and runs the load directly (self-consumption). During the utility's peak-price window, the battery discharges to carry the load instead of drawing from the grid. At night or during the off-peak window, the cabinet tops the battery back up from mains at the low rate. One shared DC bus means there is no separate inverter, no separate charger and no extra conversion losses between stages.
Peak shaving pays best wherever the tariff spread is wide. That includes farms and irrigation pumps with heavy daytime load, telecom sites on commercial rates, cold-storage and refrigeration, and any site already paying a time-of-use (TOU) tariff. The wider the gap between off-peak and peak prices, the faster the configuration pays for itself - often well ahead of the battery's 6000-cycle life.
Off-grid and weak-grid sites have another reason to like the feature: it complements diesel displacement. Solar and storage already shrink generator runtime; peak shaving then squeezes the grid-connected portion of the bill on sites that still have a mains connection. For a grid-connected but high-tariff site, this is frequently the first payback an integrated cabinet delivers - before a single outage ever occurs.
The schedule is set in the controller, not in hardware, so it can be tuned after commissioning as tariffs or load shift. Start conservative - cover the worst peak window first - then widen the discharge window once real consumption data confirms the battery headroom. A wrong guess costs nothing but a few clicks, which is the opposite of a bolt-on retrofit that needs a site visit to adjust.
The saving is set by three numbers: the peak/off-peak price gap, the energy shifted each day, and how many of those cycles the battery can sustain. Because the LFP pack is rated for 6000 cycles and managed by an intelligent BMS at 0.5 C charge and 1 C discharge, the daily shuffle is gentle on the cells. The practical limit is usually the site's peak window length, not the battery's health.

Q: Does peak shaving need extra hardware?
A: No. The charge/discharge windows are configured in the cabinet's controller; the PV inverter, battery and UPS are already one unit.
Q: Does it work on sites with no grid at all?
A: On fully off-grid sites there is no tariff to arbitrage, but self-consumption of PV still displaces diesel - the same cabinet covers both modes.
