
Specifying the right PV generator is only half the job; the other half is the concrete and the crane. For the 100-600kVA Solar 3B3 units, the physical envelope is where projects quietly go wrong. This is the site-prep checklist our application engineers use before a cabinet is ever dispatched.
The large units are heavy - the 400kVA, 500kVA and 600kVA cabinets reach over three tonnes and stand up to 2580 by 1000 by 1900 mm. They need a level, load-rated foundation sized for the static and dynamic weight, not just a slab that looks right. Confirm the floor or pad rating before booking delivery, because correcting it afterwards costs far more than planning it. Getting this right before delivery avoids a costly re-pour and a delayed commissioning.
Plan the route from truck to pad. Measure doorways, turns, ramp angles and overhead clearance, and confirm the cabinet will fit through every one. A unit this size cannot be manhandled around a corner, so the lift path is part of the design, not an afterthought on delivery day. A clearance missed by ten centimetres becomes a weekend of rework.
The cabinet operates from 0 to plus 40 degrees C, 0 to 95 percent non-condensing humidity and up to 1500 m altitude without derating. Keep intake and exhaust air moving and avoid sealing the unit into a space it cannot breathe. Above 1500 m, derating applies, so state the site elevation up front so we size the headroom correctly. Stagnant air shortens electronics life, so the cabinet's operating envelope only holds if it can actually breathe.
Large models run below 65 dB at full load - quieter than a diesel set, but still a hum worth buffering from offices or homes. A short distance, a wall or a planted screen is usually enough. Decide the buffer during layout, not after a neighbour complains. Most sites solve it with a few metres of separation rather than a full enclosure.
When a site needs more than one cabinet, up to six units parallel and share one RS485, RS232, dry-contact and optional SNMP communication bus. The parallel wiring and the communication runs should be drawn before the foundation is poured, so conduits land exactly where the cabinets will sit. A clean wiring plan is what makes a multi-cabinet bank a single manageable system. Sketch the run on the foundation drawing, not on the day the crane arrives.
